The development of novel marine finfish production requires the reliable and cost effective supply of juvenile fish. This project addresses a number of key factors (water quality and feeding) involved in the cultivation process to enhance production and reduce costs. The goal of the project is to significantly improve cost of production and resultant quality of marine finfish juveniles through active collaboration between commercial and research organisations in the regions. It will also evaluate and refine protocols for cold water larval culture and generate a network of information exchange about marine finfish hatchery techniques.
El proyecto incide sobre los factores clave (calidad del agua y alimentación) implicados en el proceso de cultivo de peces marinos, especialmente gádidos, para mejorar la producción y reducir los costes. El objetivo del proyecto es mejorar sustancialmente el coste de producción y la calidad de los alevines a través de una colaboración activa entre organismos de investigación y empresas de las regiones. También evaluará y redefinirá los protocolos para cultivo larvario de especies marinas de agua fría y generará una red de intercambio de información sobre éstas técnicas.
