Hanssen) | The Closing Conference AquaReg Coastal Zone Management Project took place on the 14th and 15th of May on Sør-Gjæslingan, a former fishing community on a small island on the coast of Trøndelag, Norway.
Some 20 participants from the three co-operative regions of Trøndelag (Norway), Galicia (Spain) and Border, Midland and Western (Ireland) took part in the presentations on the successful results of the international teamwork of finding the best practice examples and methodology of Seabed mapping and Coastal Zone Management.
The conference united scientist, regional and local Politicians and representatives from aquacultural trade organizations. Through the keynote speakers and the group discussions they acknowledged the many positive effects of the international co-operation and how the CZM Projects achievements can improve local, regional, national and international sustainable Coastal Zone Management in the future.
The conference participants also agreed on the importance of continuing the collaboration between scientists, students, aquacultural farmers, organisations and politicians in the three AquaReg Regions. The Closing AquaReg CZM Conference pointed out several considerable themes and issues for future collaborations.
