Presentations of the Clawed Lobster Stock Enhancement Workshop available
A workshop on the strategies for stock enhancement of clawed lobsters (Homarus gammarus/ americanus) was held at IGAFA, Galicia on 29th, 30th and 31st of May 2007

The meeting was funded by the Aquareg Programme, which is a cooperative programme between Galicia (Spain), Trondelag (Norway) and the BMW (Ireland) regions.

The objectives of this project were:
To develop cost effective production of lobster juveniles through active collaboration between research and training institutions.
To optimize the performance of lobster hatchery at IGAFA for refining and adapting the larval rearing and the juvenile ongrowing techniques.
To evaluate and establish guidelines for a regional lobster restocking plan in Galicia and to adapt this plan for future transfer to BMW and Trøndelag.
To generate a network across the regions for i) mutual exchange of knowledge and technology, and ii) development of future activities aimed at restocking depleted populations and establishment of localized lobster industries in the regions.

At the end of the workshop a discussion session was held and a brief summary of the topics was reported. The three discussion sessions were chaired by Craig Burton, Dr Antony Jensen and Dr Collin Bannister respectively.

The following PPT presentations were presented to the participants:
