AquaReg Steering Committee members
The AquaReg Steering Committee recently selected 4 of the 8 applications for extension.

Following the confirmation of the extension of the AquaReg Programme until December 2007 the AquaReg Steering Committee met on July 3rd, in London. The SC carried out further evaluation and examination of the applications and their budgets, 4 sub-projects were selected for extension. The selection was based on the following criteria:
· Three regions participating,
· Good co-operation, good performance and
compliance with reporting.
· Good value for money.
· New focus for the additional funding
· Priority on Regional Development Policy.

As yet the extensions are offers, which are dependant on budget alterations. The 4 chosen sub-projects are;

OPEL - Optimisation of environmental conditions for cultivating marine finfish larvae.

CZM - Coastal Zone Management, a Common Framework for Sustainable Aquaculture.

Restocking of Lobsters - A Regional Strategy for stock enhancement of clawed lobsters ( Homarus gammarus ).

RegEx - Regional Exchange and SEAWO-MEN - an amalgamation of both projects.

The projects will be extended until 30th June 2007. It is hoped that the contracts will be signed in early September.
